Shoebox Truss-Mount Dimmers

DMX or Analog

The DimmerMaster Shoeboxes are a line of very compact and rugged truss-mount dimmers with a variety of power in and out options. They all accept DMX Digital and 0-10V Analog inputs.

The DimmerMaster Shoebox truss-mount dimmers come in a variety of configurations with 1 or 4 channels and power capacities. They may be pipe or tree mounted and are perfect for tight spaces. The units accept either DMX-512 (by default) or 0 to +10VDC control signals. The starting (or single) channel is set on a thumbwheel switch, which also provides load testing and local control. A status LED indicates the presence of a DMX control signal. With both male and female XLR connectors, the control signal may be daisy-chained from pack to pack.

All dimmers in this family measure just over 7” x 5” x 4” (not including the rubber feet, U-bracket, and mounting studs) and weigh about 5 pounds.

Some “dimmable” LED bulbs flicker when dimmed with triac based dimmer packs. In some cases, this effect can be mitigated by adding parallel resistors. 4.7kΩ output resistors are available by request on the entire DimmerMaster series. We are happy test customer supplied bulbs on a Shoebox before committing to an order.

Wall Mount Dimmers

The DimmerMaster wall-mount dimmers are rugged dimmer packs with 1 or 4 channels and up to 2400 watts per channel to be mounted in 8x8 junction boxes. Each unit has both DMX-512 and analog (0 to +10VDC) control inputs. This allows these dimmers to be used with both DMX controllers like the IQ series and analog controllers like the House Light Controllers simultaneously. A status LED indicates the presence of a DMX control signal.

Some users may want the convenience of a factory installed "ForceOn" switch on the dimmer's front panel so lights can be turned on without the need for remote consoles, while others don't want to have the possibility of a hardwired switch being left in the incorrect state or accidentally being bumped at the wrong time. We now offer either option at the time of purchase.

Rack Mount Dimmers

The DimmerMaster Rack-Mount family is based on our proven Shoebox technology. They are standard 19-inch, 2U rack units with 2, 4, or 8 channels of DMX & Analog controlled dimming. This allows these dimmers to be used with both DMX controllers like the IQ series and analog controllers like the House Light Controllers simultaneously. Each channel is protected by a circuit breaker conveniently located on the front panel for quick access. A status LED on the front panel indicates the presence of a DMX control signal.

All power connections are made through clamp entries on the back face to internal screw terminals. 0-10V Theatrical 0-10V Analog control signals also enter through the back face to internal screw terminals. The desired DMX control connection option must be specified when ordered: Front 5-pin in and out connectors, Back 5-bin in and out connectors, or internal screw terminals.

Self-adhesive rubber feet included for non-rack applications.

Legacy Modular & Wall-Mount Dimmers

Firmware update available for all legacy 12CFC and 24CFC based dimmer systems.

While we may have discontinued products over the decades, we happy continue supporting our products. It’s part of our “design for maintainability not disposability” philosophy which decreases waste and your total cost of ownership.

This 2020 firmware release allows disabling the Idle Current feature. For incandescent lighting systems, the minimum idle current extends bulb life. But when switching to LED bulbs, the idle current feature can prevent some new solid-state lighting from turning completely off. Now, Idle-Current can be selected with DIP Switch 7 on the control card for all legacy Dove modular dimmer systems as well as the various DM1224 and DM2412 models.

Contact us to have your system updated. Many systems can have the processor reprogrammed (PCB Rev D and later), earlier systems (pre-Rev D) will need a new control card for this feature. Firmware updates will be handled as a repair, which will be $95 plus shipping.
